Vale of Edale, Lose Hill and Mam Tor
A day walk around the valley of Edale and up onto Lose Hill and onwards to Mam Tor.
The route basically starts at The Old Nags Head pub and follows the valley bottom south of Kinder passing through Ollerbrook Booth, Nether Booth, Clough Farm, onto a short section of road,Car House Farm, Edale end, under a railway bridge (Bagshaw bridge on the OS map). We then follow the footpath past Oaker Farm until we reach a signpost for Townhead. Turning right up the footpath this takes us to the summit of Lose Hill then its a simple walk along the ridge to Back Tor, Hollins Cross and the Hill fort summit of Mam Tor. Finally we descent from Mam Tor back to Edale via Harden Clough. Time taken 5.5 hrs at a steady pace and rest stops to enjoy the views.
We Drove up to Edale on the Friday night and spent the night at Waterside campsite overlooking Broadlee-Bank Tor.

Got an itch...
Im sat here in my living room, looking out of the window at a dull, grey and rainy day, wishing i was back up on Kinder Scout. Looking forward to taking a new way up to explore the south eastern flanks and seeking out a cheeky little spot to wildcamp ;)
Just gotta persuade the wife to say yes. Best get out and buy her some chocolate =)
